Unbreakable Code

I created this simple code in jr. high and to this day I've yet to find anyone/anything that can break it without the cypher.

I welcome anyone to try, and would be glad to get it out of my brain if you can... can you?
Here's a simple message to break:

3 10 24 14 13 2 17 9 2 21 6 4 1

Enjoy.

Oops.

I guess that it has been 3 years since I've typed a blog post. Too busy? Laziness? Laxidazitude?

I have no idea.  All I know is that I just remembered that I had this blog... and almost immediately started getting the hankering to begin... blogging... again.

Where was I? Oh yes... nowhere. What have I been doing for the last 3 years? Well, that's simple, I've been working.

Every hour I'm awake, of every day I am alive is dedicated to the pursuit of, you guessed it... my career.

I have one passion in life. One goal. A singular Modus Operandi........... film...

I just... I just hope that I can get there one day.

The Drink

I was thirsty. So very thirsty.

Water came by the glassful. I even swallowed the ice.

Still... I was thirsty.

On the counter to my left was juice. Deep red. Blood red. Juice.

Maybe that could have quenched the thirst. Maybe.

I drink. The entire thing. It only takes two gulps. Something tastes funny, I don't really care, I'm too thirsty. I pour another glass.

Someone informs me it isn't juice. Thick wine. Warm wine. Red Wine. That explains the taste.

I try to drink the second glass. I can't. It won't stay down.

Wine pours from my mouth by the pint. I'm at the sink watching it drain through stainless steel.

I wake up. Not sure what just happened.

I've never even tried wine.

Demon Joel

I've been teaching myself compositing- because that's all the rage right now- and a part of that is morphing faces into demon faces... also all the rage-

I had to learn this- so, here's my first attempt.

With My Thoughts

I wrote this last night at around 2am... I shot it this afternoon and cut it this evening... My brain has been quite the places these past couple of weeks... Enjoy.

Joel's Musical Song Post #12 - Anguish

I tend to get really busy with work... goals... etc.

I tend to get busy and stressed and inundated with stuff.

This is the reason it has been SO long since I've made a MSP- it is also the reason that I made this one... I just need to take a break from time to time and when I take breaks... this is what happens...

Tiny Disasters

It had been like this since he could remember. For every one good bit of fortune to come his way- he would have seven equally unfortunate occurrences befall him.

When he was twelve, Sara Bonnie Falstaff, the most beautiful girl in all the classes of all the school kissed him. By the end of the day the final project for his English class (which consisted of foam board, plants, toy dinosaurs, working electric fences and a little jeep he'd painstakingly attached to create a jungle vignette from the novel Jurassic Park) had been knocked off the second floor balcony of his middle school- In an effort to avert the disaster, he fell- receiving 2 broken fingers, a cracked rib, two black eyes and a pebble in his shoe that he couldn't seem to remove.

At the age of 18, thinking that the curse may have been broken by his recent coming of age, he purchased a single, Powerball lottery ticket. Which he won.

Before he could claim the prize he mysteriously disappeared, for 2 years. One eyewitness claims he was taken by a large silvery orb from outer space, this of course is pure speculation- because he, to this day, will not speak of the events that occurred over those 730 days. He was unable to claim his prize.

He came to grips with what was happening to him, he understood that in all likely hood that this odd combination of karma and fate, would ultimately lead to his death.

His name was Sam and today something so great happens to him... that he surely won't survive.

New Blog Layout

"Hey-" I thought to myself, "-why not!?" I then toyed with the html to give it a new look. When finished I exclaimed "Cool beans."

Good Day

The day I had was like unto the knees of a most noble bee;

A day to cause a feline small to wear its bed time wares instead

Of its rough and gentle coat; O! Time spent with

A family loud and a family proud will make

A giant feel comfortable in a dwarven smock.

Nostalgia

Soft! My ears have tuned on to the notes of old

As wheels glide across roads of tar and stone,

Wistful and clean, these tunes do well in my chest and my throat,

Returning me to a time of more simple joy and care.

To Sleep.

Oh sleep, how does your gentle touch escape my hand?

Were't not for vivid dreams of future lives and hopes of abundant rest,

My days would fall, crumbling into a stagnent pool of wasted youth.

The night air wasn't so cool...

...It burned. There was a foul odor in the air; the miasma of stale clothes and old compote.

The moonlight- if there was still a moon- could not be seen through the smog, buildings and living corpses of those who wandered the streets at night- unable to sleep... which was most everybody. This was, after all, the city.

The city of crime.

The city of the lost.

The city of debauchery and the ill gotten.

The city of hope...just the hope that there has got to be a better place out there- that this was in fact the worst that it gets.

Hope that somebody somewhere else is happy.

It was this hope that kept the sun from abandoning the people of this place... her rays shine only to remind the world of where it could end up.

Its people waking up each day closer to death and never aging.

Rumor has it that an urban planner hung himself the day he realized he'd designed the layout for the world's largest morgue. Little did he know that his morbid simile was far more than the guilty conscience of a balding man with broken glasses...

The city was marked for death... it had only three days left to live.

Randomocity.

I feel I knead to update my blog more often- but the problem is, I really don't have a lot to write about.

I am in fact one of those bloggers that only feels the urge to write when something compelling is occurring in my life. Unfortunately, I used to focus on mainly the bad stuff- so it was only when I was in a introspective mood that I'd write- which is why there is more than a few vague entries in this web log.

I'd also write if something was bothering me, blasting my life to pieces or if I was just plain excited for something.

Now- I guess I'll just be posting when I'm bored, have a bit of a short story, screenplay or something else I'd like to share... maybe I'll start doing more film reviews... I dunno.

Man- I suck at updating...

Its been quite sometime since I've written here- I guess I've just been too busy trying to get ahead in life... haven't had much time for this.

Well- I'm here now and I want to show you my directors reel- which I've finally DONE!

More of my works... I have too many-

I've found an old play I was working on... I think maybe it is time to finish it-

Its called "Survival Horror: A Guide to Producing Quality Works"

The basic idea of the show is a Narrated step by step guide on how to make a Zombie movie... but its a play- uhmmm....

here's a sample.

Survival Horror: A Guide to Producing Quality Works
by: Joel Petrie

Lights up on 6 young adults, regular people, nothing outstanding about them. BILLY, HEIDI, JOHNNY, KATIE and NICK. They are all lounging about the room as young adults would do in this situation. A lazy vignette.

NARRATOR (cont’d):Rule number two: The audience must identify with the characters. Our target audience is going to be young adults. So, our characters are... young adults. The characters cannot be outstanding in any way. Just, regular people like you and I... Ordinary people in extraordinary situations are far more interesting to watch.

The vignette comes to life.

NICK: Billy... do you know what time Dave is going to get here? I’d like to get going!

Billy is trying to get some luggage up onto a shelf. He’s having a hard time.

BILLY: He’s coming up after work, but knowing him he’ll take all night...

NICK: But I wanna get this party started!

HEIDI: Nick, you are so lame!

NICK: Yeah...

BILLY: Could you help me with this?

Johnny steps forward.

JOHNNY: I got it.

He just so happens to put the luggage up first try.

BILLY: Anyone seen Brittany?

Just then BRITTANY enters from the bedroom door.

BRITTANY: Heidi, Katie... do you have any tampons!?

there is a LOONG awkward pause.

NARRATOR: I guess this would be a good place to tell you “Rule Number Three.” Rule Number Three: Foreshadow, foreshadow, foreshadow!

NICK: Anyone want to go check out that old cemetery out back!?

EVERYONE: Yeah. Of course. Let’s do... etc.

Everyone except Billy and Brittany exit the back door. There is another long awkward pause.

NARRATOR: Rule number four: Always develop a love story.

BRITTANY: I’m schizophrenic!

BILLY: What?

BRITTANY: I found out what’s wrong with me! I’m schizophrenic!

BILLY: Okay...

BRITTANY: My psychiatrist told me. I’ve got a prescription and everything!

BILLY: Have you started it yet?

BRITTANY: I’ll be getting better soon and we’ll be getting back together soon!

BILLY: So... you haven’t started it yet...

BRITTANY: Billy, I promise I’ll be getting better.

BILLY: Brittany, we’ve talked about this before. One; we’ve never dated. Two, I’m not ready for any sort of serious commitment right now... and... you’re crazy... I just don’t think it’ll work...

BRITTANY: Why can’t you be serious!? Just for ONE second.

BILLY: Okay I will... NOTHING WILL EVER HAPPEN BETWEEN US...........EVER!

BRITTANY: Why are you always so serious?

BILLY: AH!

BRITTANY: I’m sure if I were Heidi you’d be acting much differently...

The back door flings open and in storms Katie in a huff.

BILLY: What’s wrong?

KATIE: Besides the fact that Nick is an exhausting jack ass?

BRITTANY: Excuse me, we were having a conversation.

BILLY: What’d he do?

KATIE: Jack ass tried convincing me that a dead cat was trying to come back to life.

BRITTANY: Gross!

BILLY: That’s it?

KATIE: Well that and he’s not responding to any of my sexual advances...

NARRATOR: Foreshadowing AND multiple love stories set up... how do you like them apples?
